In women, the corresponding increases are 7 millimeters and 180 cubic centimeters. Notably, skull height has increased by 6.8 percent since the late 1800s, while body height has only increased by 5.6 percent and femur length by just 2 percent. Interestingly, skull height has continued to change, whereas overall human height has plateaued recently.

The research mentioned above has primarily assessed Americans of European ancestry, as they provide the largest sample sizes to work with.
