The Texas team was “stunned” by their findings, noting that the study’s walnut-consuming subjects displayed a two-thirds reduction in tumor incidence compared to their non-walnut eating counterparts. Additionally, the researchers found that only a small quantity of walnuts was required to deliver these remarkable benefits. Study senior author Russel Reiter, Ph.D. and professor of cellular and structural biology at the Health Science Center, explained that in terms of the subject’s diet, “the walnut portion was not a large percentage”. Consuming just two ounces, or roughly two handfuls, per day was all that was needed to reap the protective rewards.

Furthermore, Dr. Reiter noted that including walnuts in your daily routine may not only help prevent prostate cancer, but also provide benefits for other types of cancer, including breast cancer.
